Since 2016, Dallas Theological Seminary has offered the Story of Scripture to thousands of people, including The Billy Graham Center at The Cove in Asheville, North Carolina, and dozens of churches nationwide. In addition to the two-day event, it is going global with the first SOS international conference coming to Monrovia, Liberia.

The event was born out of a growing concern that so many people, even those who have been lifelong Christians, have difficulty understanding the complete grand narrative of Scripture from Genesis to Revelation.

“There are two major themes I want people to understand before they leave,” said Dr. Mark Yarbrough. “God makes and always keeps his promises. And because of that, we can always trust him with the messiness of our lives.”

Know it: We want every attendee, from those exploring the faith to lifelong believers, to gain a new understanding and insight into the complete narrative of Scripture and a new appreciation for the truth that every believer has a place in God’s master plan of redemption.

Live it: Recognizing that knowledge alone has only limited benefit, our mission is that every attendee gains not only a transformational understanding of God’s plan for every believer but also a new life empowered by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and rooted in living the truths revealed in the pages of Scripture.

Work it: As a person experiences personal transformation fueled by deep engagement with the Scripture, guided by the Spirit, they will live out the application of God’s Word in thought, word, and deed to be salt and light in the world around them.

Our vision is that God transforms every attendee as the Holy Spirit ignites a new passion for the power of God’s Word and a fresh understanding of their place in the greatest story ever told.
